BLAK3!
Had little to cover his face about in this game. 7-11 from the field which included an amazing 5-6 from 3-point range.
Mike Brown went with the hot hand, playing MVSteve for 30 minutes and Ramon Sessions only 20. He finished behind only Pau on the Lakers with 19 points.

More pre-game images from Game 1 of the Lakers series against the Nuggets.

These three (as well as Devin Ebanks) also came up huge.

No one saw this performance from Jordan Hill coming, and I definitely have to give Mike Brown props for leaving him in over the struggling Bynum. Hill finished with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and a +/- of +27.

Steve Blake hit several huge 3’s, adding in 13 points.

Gasol was perhaps the most consistent starter, coming one assist short of a triple-double. He had 20 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists.

Steve Blake connected on five 3’s tonight, and scored 17 points. He’s not even touching the floor in this picture.

Despite it being a really funny joke, Derek Fisher wasn’t necessarily to blame for Jeremy Lin going off tonight. At times he played good defense on him (this was just a ridiculous move), and at times our bigs provided no type of relief in the paint. On the offensive end he was meh, going 2-7 from the field and only having 6 assists. Steve Blake was largely a non-factor, even with 30 minutes of playing time. He hasn’t played for weeks, so it isn’t logical to think he’d be able to come off the bench and contribute like he was at the beginning of the season.
What should the Lakers do? Sign Ramon Sessions.
I know a lot of people want Gilbert Arenas (me). That’s great, but he’s older than Sessions and has had knee surgeries. While scoring relief for the Lakers when Kobe goes on the bench would be nice, that’s what Bynum and Gasol are primarily for. A playmaking point guard has always been our weakness, one covered up by the Triangle.
Is Sessions worth it?
It’s hard to properly measure Sessions’ worth this season because of Kyrie Irving. He isn’t going to get starter minutes with the possible RoY starting. A good barometer though has been Sessions play the last two games while Irving sat out with a concussion.
On Wednesday, after learning he’d start just minutes before gametime, Sessions put up 24 points and 13 assists in a win against the Clippers. Tonight against the Bucks, again getting the start in place of Irving, he was good for 12 points and 16 assists.
Imagine a life where there’s a point guard who can play the pick and roll with Pau Gasol, and dish to Kobe off of screens? I say the Lakers take a chance at trading for him considering they have an $8.9 million trade exception and Sessions salary is $4.3 million.
C’mon Mitch, it’s time. I love Fish and Blake, but I can’t keep watching them get killed by younger, faster guards.

Blake to McRoberts for the alley-oop.

Josh also had some nice blocks tonight.

Not sure exactly what is going on here, but it doesn’t feature any actual gameplay which is good because the Laker’s gameplay was not so good.
