By now news has gotten around that Pau Gasol has a tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot, adding on to an injury-plagued season for the Lakers.
There’s no news yet on whether he will undergo surgery. The injury should keep him out a minimum of 6-8 weeks.
Mike D’Antoni is likely to place Robert Sacre in the starting rotation as center, and the Lakers are hoping that the injury pushes Dwight Howard to return faster from his recent shoulder injury. However, they were give a disabled player’s exception for Jordan Hill last week after he had season-ending hip surgery. The exception would allow the Lakers to spend about half of Hill’s salary, around $1.78 million, to sign a free agent. It could also be used towards the contract of a player received in a trade.
Apparently the Lakers aren’t likely to use that exception, which sounds odd if they’re serious about making a push to claim the 8th seed.
PAU GASOL WILL SIT OUT INDEFINITELY.
Due to tendinitis in both knees, Gasol will not be playing against Houston tonight, and will be sitting out indefinitely. Antawn Jamison will be starting in his place. Also, Chris Duhon will be starting in place of Darius Morris.
Pau Gasol becomes only the 10th international player to score 15,000 points. Congrats Pau!
Lakers lose to the Jazz 95-86, and we have to wonder how much longer this guy will continue to coach them.
I’m usually not one to start blaming one person for a team’s failures but tonight’s game was more than enough to let me know that the Lakers are in need of some kind of change. Seeing Metta World Peace play shooting guard officially put me on the #firemikebrown bandwagon, and questioning his ridiculous lineups.
Steve Blake was 2-10 (and those 8 shots were WIDE OPEN shots), Darius Morris 1-6… yet Jodie Meeks did not even see a minute of playing time.
We’ve also gotta throw blame at Pau Gasol who usually doesn’t crumble until the playoffs, but shot 2-9, and only grabbed 7 rebounds in 36 minutes of playing time. In fact, Jordan Hill led the Lakers in rebounding with 12 in just 23 minutes of PT. Metta World Peace was 3-12 and contributed his usual amount of head-scratching plays.
The Lakers next play Golden State on Friday, at Staples.

MUST WATCH: Ressurection
If you’re a Laker fan, buckle up. I made the mistake of watching this video at work. The first colleague of mine who walked in my door got punched square in the face. It just happened.
90 minutes with Human Resources.
I’m packing up my stuff in a cardboard box.
Thanks to @LD2K for making another hit. The 2012-2013 NBA season has already started. Inside my heart.
