The bigger thing is simply being a Laker fan, which means car flags and Jack Nicholson and a sense of superiority, but also means being connected to Los Angeles. No team is more L.A. than the Lakers. Los Angeles is the city where movies are made, a place where massive and irresponsible dreams either come true or spectacularly don’t. It is a city built on stories: individual and collective, real and fake, meaningful and inconsequential. This is why, maybe the only reason why, Ramon Sessions can seem important for a few months in spring.”

As if this sight wasn’t enough (Kobe not pictured), it’s been reported that Metta World Peace most likely won’t play in Game 4.

“I wasn’t effective,” World Peace said. “There’s no sense when we got guys that can win, why not let them win. We’ll win Sunday, then I’ll be better and then go to San Antonio [for Game 5 on Tuesday] and I’ll be really good that day.

Mentally, I was there, but it didn’t translate. Physically I wasn’t, but mentally I was there.

I really believe if I didn’t play tonight, it would have been a faster-paced game for us. Nobody would have been dragging. Everybody would have been 100 percent. It was like 5-on-4.

If there was one good moment from last night, and trust me, there weren’t few, it was Andrew Goudelock being recognized as the 2013 D-League MVP.

He then went on to shoot 8-17 for 20 points in 41 minutes of play. Not too bad for a guy expected to fill pretty huge shoes on a moment’s notice.

Recap/Highlights from the Lakers 91 - 79 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1.

Dwight Howard led the Lakers with 20 points and 15 rebounds, Pau Gasol behind him with 16 points and 16 boards.

Lakers ended up shooting only 41% from the floor, a horrible 66% from the free-throw line and an abysmal 20% from behind the three-point line. Defense? Not bad. Offense? Let’s just say that we really miss Kobe …

Lakers - 91, Spurs - 86

In the first game without Kobe Bryant the Lakers rallied in the 4th to win and inch closer to clinching a playoff spot.

Dwight Howard led the team with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Steve Blake added 23 points on 8-16 shooting and a barrage of three’s from Antawn Jamison and Jodie Meeks pushed the Lakers over the edge.

The Lakers only need one more win to clinch the 8th playoff spot, or a Utah Jazz loss.

Lakers have just announced that they’ve signed Andrew Goudelock (remember him?). Not a Kobe replacement exactly, but he is familiar with the Lakers, can hit from the outside and create his own shot.

Well, and Kobe did dub him Mini Mamba back when he was on the team.
